======== Announcement, Oct 25: ========
----------------- Mid-term exam Nov 2 -----------------

We'll have a mid-semester exam at the regular class time next
Monday, November 2. It'll be open book, open notes, time limit
about 45 minutes.

============ TEXTBOOK: ============

Mainly as a supplement to the lectures, we'll use An Introduction
to the Theory of Stellar Structure and Evolution
by Dina Prialnik.

.... Frankly, this is not a great book. Its sequence of topics
.... is muddled and illogical. But it's better than most of its
.... competitors, and (I hope) less expensive.
.... Lectures, notes, and homework will be more important!

Some useful books have been put on the "Ast 4001" shelf in the
astronomy reading room, 358B.
