Coming back to the University of Minnesota is a completion of my public school education in Minnesota. I grew up in South Minneapolis, attending public schools my entire life (Dowling Elementary, Anwatin Middle School, and Southwest High School), something of which I am very proud. I did my undergraduate work at The Univeristy of California at Berkeley where I received degrees in Astronomy and Physics and also had the opportunity to work with two outstanding astronomers, Alex Filippenko and Geoff Marcy. Outside of astronomy you will find me on the soccer field. I began playing competitively at the age of five through the Minneapolis Park Board and later with various Minneapolis club teams as well as Southwest High School. As an undergraduate, I learned a lot about soccer in California, since it is the best state for soccer playing/watching/development in the US. Now, I'm glad to be back in Minnesota sharing my knowledge and love for the game as a professional coach. |
